Pathway Devotionals is an ongoing series of daily Bible readings, study, and reflection written by Dr. Ashlock.
Each devotional offers in-depth analysis of a key Bible passage selected from the daily reading, then seeks to apply it to a wide range of moral issues. The focus is on ways that Christians may respond biblically, from the text itself, to issues taken straight from current news items of interest. Our aim is to help equip Christ-followers with moral decision-making tools that will enable us to address ethical issues that confront us each day.
You should be able to read thoughtfully through the Bible passages and devotional in about thirty minutes. At the end, there are journaling questions to guide you in taking the passage to heart and applying it directly to your life.

Updates for 2026
The Pathway Devotional Ministry has entered its tenth year, and I am most thankful for the blessings God has poured out on my family and friends through this series. I began writing these daily devotionals at the request of my family because they wanted something deeper to help them to grow as Christian disciples. It has been my joy to thank God for the many times I have observed key growth in their ability to understand and apply the Bible to their daily lives, as well as increased opportunities to effectively lead in their ministry callings.
Big announcement!
The series will soon be available in book form for those who wish to keep a copy of the entire year with their Bible and journal. We will make our readers aware when the hardcopy and/or e-book are ready for you to purchase.

Big announcement!
The series will soon be available in book form for those who wish to keep a copy of the entire year with their Bible and journal. We will make our readers aware when the hardcopy and/or e-book are ready for you to purchase.
Here are some key Pathway Devotional Ministry FAQs and answers:
- How long are the devotionals?
Pathway devotionals are just the right length for busy families! Each seven-paragraph devotional explains a key text from the daily Bible readings, applies it to a specific life circumstance, and invites the reader to reflect and act on what they have learned. The devotionals can be completed in as few as fifteen to thirty minutes each day.
- How will this devotional series help me in my Christian life?
First, the systematic study of the entire Bible produces growth in wisdom that blesses family members and friends (Psalm 1; Matthew 5:48). If you save the daily devotionals, then you will be able to access concise Bible interpretation and application for use in many different contexts (e.g. discussions with family members and friends, LifeGroup discussions, and to compare with questionable social media posts!). For example, I keep all the devotionals in a "cloud" and use key passage searches to guide me when discussing Bible texts with others. The devotionals are also useful for family worship. The "For Families" section at the close of each devotional also offers creative ways to teach your children the importance of reading and applying the Bible to their lives.
Secondly, the daily study of God's word prepares a person for unexpected trials that will pop up (James 1:2-4)! Many times, I have been grateful that a passage I studied in the morning helped me with a specific trial later in the day.
Thirdly, a commitment to daily Bible study and prayer offers a fresh perspective on reading God's word. Many Christians set a New Year's resolution to read through the entire Bible each year, lag within a few weeks, and then quit. This often leads to guilt and defeat. There is a better way to approach the study of God's word.
- Why is this approach to Bible study different?
The Pathway Devotional Ministry works because it sets a different goal. This series aims to help you to grow in your relationship with the Heavenly Father! We all fail at times to read and study God's word, but the motivation to spend time with the Heavenly Father will greatly reduce those "fails." These devotionals allow you to eliminate playing "catch up" and train you to "grow up" in Christ (1 Peter 2:1-3). Besides, if you miss a New Testament reading on one day, then this Bible reading plan will give you the opportunity to read it later in the year. Remember, you are not running a 365-day Bible-reading marathon, but building a relationship with your Heavenly Father. Imagine awakening each day eager to talk and listen to Him! If this approach to Christian discipleship interests you, then give the Pathway Devotional Ministry a try.
